Once all the pieces are in place and it is time to start your renovation, the ongoing management and communication is something that you need to think very carefully about. If any issues arise you want to be in the position to address them straight away so the project sees no delays and is completed to your expectations.
Here are three tips to help manage your renovation:

01

Regular site meetings are a very important part of the renovation process and should be scheduled in advance of the work being started. These involve a meeting on site with yourself, the builder and sometimes the designer to go through the milestones that have been completed and ensure everything is satisfactory before they move onto the next stage.

02

Ask for a construction program. A construction program is a timeline that lays out which items are being completed by which dates. Referring to the construction program regularly will enable you to know what is happening at any given time and will enable you to make sure the project is on track to be completed on time.

03

Before the works begin, you should establish an agreement regarding site visits from your design team. You want the designers to make sure that the work is being completed as it was intended. Close to completion a design team should go through the site in detail and form a list of defects to be rectified by the builder before the project is considered complete.
