A Federation Home Restored Without Losing Its Character
A Federation-era home restoration that combined heritage preservation with a full kitchen, bathroom and ensuite renovation.
The Brief
The goal was to restore a Federation-era home, updating the kitchen, bathrooms and living spaces for modern use while preserving the character original to the property, including its timber floorboards.
The Wishlist
The clients wanted:
– A full kitchen renovation with premium appliances and custom cabinetry
– A new ensuite addition
– The existing bathroom renovated while retaining its classic character
– Original timber floorboards uncovered and restored

WHAT WE DID
Construction Concierge supported the property acquisition and subdivision DA approval process ahead of the project, and facilitated the design and construction team needed to carry out the restoration.
We facilitated the design team for the project and provided ongoing support as they developed the new kitchen, ensuite addition and bathroom renovation, working to a design that suited the home’s Federation character alongside a plan to restore the original timber floorboards uncovered beneath the existing carpet.
When the design moved into construction, we facilitated the build team and provided ongoing support through the kitchen and bathroom builds, the new ensuite, the floorboard restoration, and the landscaping and exterior repainting that completed the property.
Throughout the project, the clients had guidance across every stage, from the initial acquisition and approval process through to the finished result, while we helped keep the design and construction teams working towards the same outcome.
The Outcome
The result is a Federation home that keeps its original character intact, with a fully renovated kitchen, bathroom, new ensuite and restored timber floorboards throughout.
The home’s heritage features were preserved and restored, the kitchen and bathrooms were brought up to a modern standard, and the exterior was refreshed with new landscaping and paintwork. The clients gained a home that balances its history with the comforts of modern living.

A Federation-era home does not have to mean choosing between preserving its character and modernising it for the way people live today.
