A bespoke renovation in Sydney’s Inner West that preserved the character of a heritage home while creating the luxury, flow and functionality a young family needed.
The Brief
The clients were a professional couple with two young children who wanted to transform a character property in Lilyfield into a home their family could grow into.
The goal was to keep the charm that made the property special while bringing the home into the present with better flow, more functionality and a level of finish that would feel right for years to come.
They wanted a home that worked for everyday family life, but still felt considered, elevated and bespoke.
The Wishlist

The Challenge
The project came with strict heritage controls that dictated what could and could not change, and how those changes needed to be handled.
As the project progressed, the site revealed several serious issues. The existing roof was found to be structurally unsound, which meant the planned demolition could not go ahead and a more complex remediation approach was needed.
Below ground, the problems continued. The property had a blocked sewer, failed stormwater systems and asbestos that needed to be safely identified and removed.
Without the right guidance, any one of these issues could have delayed the project, created compliance problems or placed unnecessary pressure on the budget. Together, they had the potential to turn a dream renovation into a stressful and reactive build.
WHAT WE DID
Construction Concierge brought together the team the project actually needed, including the right design team, consultants, specialists and builder.
We worked closely with the design team and consultants to navigate the heritage requirements while protecting the client’s vision for the home. The goal was to resolve the restrictions early, before they became expensive or time-consuming problems on site.
When the roof issue was uncovered, we coordinated specialist remediation to keep the project moving without compromising the structure or the heritage requirements.
We also oversaw the replacement of the sewer and stormwater systems and managed the safe removal of asbestos, making sure the home was not only beautiful, but structurally sound, safe and properly serviced for the long term.
Throughout the project, the clients saw considered solutions rather than a stream of panicked phone calls. They stayed informed and in control, while we handled the coordination, communication and problem-solving in the background.
The Outcome
The result is a heritage home that still holds the character that made it worth buying, with the comfort, quality and functionality of a modern family home behind it.
The heritage elements were preserved and respected, the roof was remediated, the services were brought up to standard, the asbestos was safely removed, and the home was transformed into a light-filled, family-friendly space with a bespoke entertainer’s kitchen, luxurious bathrooms, custom joinery and seamless indoor-outdoor flow.
Delivered over 10 months, the project became exactly what the family had hoped for: a home that honours where it came from and works beautifully for the way they live now.
