An Apartment Extension That Opened Up the Living Space
A Class 2 apartment extension and renovation in Northbridge that expanded the living area and delivered a new kitchen, connected to the outdoors through the new extension.
The Brief
The goal was to extend and renovate a Northbridge apartment, expanding the living space and delivering a new kitchen with a stronger connection to the outdoor garden.
The Wishlist
The clients wanted:
– An extended living room
– A new, modern kitchen
– A stronger connection between indoor living space and the garden
– More natural light throughout the apartment
– An updated dining area suited to entertaining
WHAT WE DID
Construction Concierge facilitated the construction team needed to deliver the extension and renovation, and provided ongoing support throughout the build.
We facilitated the build team for the project and provided ongoing construction support through the structural wall removals and the new extension, expanding the living room and creating a connected, open layout.
Alongside the extension, we supported the delivery of the new kitchen, including marble countertops, custom cabinetry and updated appliances, and the installation of larger windows and glass doors connecting the living space to the garden.
Throughout construction, the clients had support at every stage, while we helped keep the build on track and the team working towards the finished result.
The Outcome
The result is a Northbridge apartment with an extended living space, a new kitchen and a stronger connection to the outdoors.
The living room was extended and opened up, the kitchen was brought up to a modern standard, and new windows and glass doors now connect the apartment to the garden. The clients gained a home with significantly more living space and better natural light throughout.

An apartment extension involving structural work does not have to mean a disruptive or drawn-out build.
It means construction needs to be carefully managed from start to finish, and who’s supporting that process matters even more.

“Navigating an apartment renovation has become a nightmare with all the new Class 2 legislation. Having found our own Class 2 architect and structural engineer we were struggling to find a Class 2 builder. Charlie introduced us to 3 highly qualified builders, all of whom could have taken on the job. Their quotes were quite variable, but we were able to select a builder who was within our budget and could meet our timeframe. Charlie helped to steer us through some of the unknowns such as Home Owners Warranty Insurance and the NSW Planning Portal, and worked with us for well over a year before the work actually commenced. He stayed with the project throughout, initially providing a conduit between us and the builder, but also became the point of contact for the elderly residents in our block who were totally opposed to our renovation. He kept them informed on progress and deliveries, as well as answering their endless concerns and complaints. Finding Charlie was a godsend and he relieved an enormous amount of stress for us – we would highly recommend him to anyone doing a renovation, and especially navigating the Class 2 legislation.”
