A Post-Approval Renovation Delivered Through COVID Lockdowns
A full home renovation in Roseville that transformed a decade-old family home into a Hamptons-style retreat, guided from council approval through construction during the COVID lockdowns.
The Brief
The clients were a young family who loved their Roseville home and wanted to completely transform it without compromising on quality. After a few bad experiences with renovations and builders in the past, getting that quality right was their priority.
Having lived in the property for over a decade, they were ready for a fresh start. They already had plans approved with council, but weren’t sure how to navigate the process from approval through to construction.
The Wishlist
The clients wanted:
– A new custom shaker kitchen with marble benchtops
– A new main bathroom with a picture-framed bathtub and matching marble
– Underfloor heating in the main and kids’ bathrooms
– A large new outdoor entertaining area, including a pergola with skylights
– A renovated pool with new mosaic waterline tiles
– A builder and consultant team they could trust, after past bad experiences
The Challenge
The clients already had their plans approved with council, but were unsure of the process from approval through to construction, including which consultants to engage and how to lock in the right builder.
The project was also delivered during the COVID lockdowns, which added significant pressure and uncertainty to an already complex build.
Without the right guidance, navigating post-approval consultants and construction during lockdown conditions could easily have caused delays, or repeated the bad experiences the clients had had with renovations in the past.
WHAT WE DID
Construction Concierge guided the clients through the approvals and consultant process following their council approval, and facilitated the build team needed to bring the project to life.
We helped the clients navigate the consultants required post-approval and locked in the right builder for the project, drawing on a network of trusted experts to keep the project moving despite the challenges of the COVID lockdowns.
We provided ongoing construction support through the kitchen renovation, including the new bifold servery window and custom shaker kitchen with marble benchtops, the new stacker doors leading to the outdoor entertaining area, the pergola and travertine alfresco, and the pool renovation with its new mosaic waterline tiles. We also supported the bathroom renovations, including underfloor heating in both the main and kids’ bathrooms.
Throughout the project, the clients had support at every stage, from the approvals process through to the finished result, while we helped keep the build on track despite lockdown conditions.
The Outcome
The result is a Roseville home transformed into a Hamptons-style family retreat, with a new kitchen, bathrooms, pool and outdoor entertaining area.
The clients moved from council approval to a completed renovation despite the disruption of COVID lockdowns, gaining a custom kitchen, renovated bathrooms with underfloor heating, and an outdoor space built for entertaining, including a new pergola and pool. After a decade in the home and some difficult past renovation experiences, the clients finally got the quality and trust they’d been looking for.
THE TAKEAWAY
Having your plans approved does not mean the hard part of a renovation is over, and disruption like a lockdown does not have to mean a stalled project.
It means the approvals, consultants and construction all need to be coordinated carefully, and who’s guiding that process matters even more.
On this Roseville project, Construction Concierge helped the clients move from council approval through consultants, lockdowns and construction to the Hamptons-style home they’d been wanting for years.
IN THE CLIENT’S WORDS
“Vlade was a calm shepard that guided us through our renovation that was more than a little tricky and had its fair share of issues. His unfaltering professionalism and vast knowledge of seemingly all things to do with the building industry was always a great relief to us. Throughout the process of living in the house during the renovation, it was great to able to pick up the phone and ask for help, knowing that whatever the issue was, Vlade would be able to sort something out promptly. I would highly recommend the Construction Concierge team to anyone looking for strong guidance throughout the renovation process.”
