A Dated Interior Reimagined for Contemporary Family Living
A complete home renovation in St Ives that brought a contemporary, elegant update to the kitchen, living areas and bathrooms.
The Brief
The goal was to bring a dated St Ives home into a contemporary, elegant standard, updating the kitchen, living areas and bathrooms while preserving original character features such as the home’s brick archways.
The Wishlist
The clients wanted:
– A bright, open-concept kitchen with a central island
– A new butler’s kitchen
– Original character features, like the brick archways, retained
– Built-in shelving and updated lighting in the living areas
– A complete overhaul of the bathrooms
– A minimalist, spa-like feel in the bathrooms
WHAT WE DID
Construction Concierge facilitated the design and construction team the project needed to bring a contemporary update to the kitchen, living areas and bathrooms.
We facilitated the design team for the project and provided ongoing support as they developed the new kitchen and butler’s kitchen, replacing the original cabinetry and fixtures with high-gloss units and a central island, and reworked the living areas to retain features like the brick archways while introducing built-in shelving and updated lighting.
When the design moved into construction, we facilitated the build team and provided ongoing support through the kitchen and butler’s kitchen build, and the bathroom renovations, including new walk-in showers, floating vanities and updated tiling and fixtures.
Throughout the project, the clients had guidance across every stage, from early design decisions through to the finished result, while we helped keep the design and construction teams working towards the same outcome.
The Outcome
The result is a St Ives home with a contemporary, elegant kitchen, butler’s kitchen, living areas and bathrooms, alongside preserved original character features like the brick archways.
The kitchen was transformed from a cramped, enclosed space into an open, social hub built around a central island. The bathrooms were brought up to a minimalist, spa-like standard. The clients gained a home that’s both updated and true to its original character.
THE TAKEAWAY
A dated home does not have to mean losing its character in the process of updating it.
It means balancing what’s worth preserving against what needs to change, and who’s coordinating that balance matters even more.
